The NLNA will be taking nominations at tonight's General Meeting – Thur, April 26

Greetings Neighbors!  It is, once again, annual election time for the Northern Liberties Neighbors Association Board of Directors.  Our rapidly-growing neighborhood has seen some great progress in the past few years, however, such progress has brought new and different challenges into the purview of the NLNA.

If so, then nominate yourself or your neighbor for theNLNA Board of Directors!

How to NominateNominations for the NLNA Board of Director annual elections will be taken at the NLNA General Meeting on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 7:00 pm, at the NLNA Community Center located at 3rd and Fairmount.  Additionally, nominations will be taken on-line in advance of the April 26 meeting.  To nominate someone on-line, please e-mail Paula Gansky (pgansky@aol.com) and be sure to put “Nominations” in the subject line of the e-mail.  The names of the individuals who are nominated on-line will be announced on April 26 along with the names of the individuals who are nominated at the meeting.Board Seats Open for Nomination:  This year, we will be nominating folks forPresident, Treasurer, and six (6) at-large Board seats.  The seats open for re-election arecurrently held by: Matt Ruben (President)Steve Richman (Treasurer)Michael Coyne (at-large)Ira Upin (at-large)Joe Mikuliak  (at-large)Christopher Somers (at-large)Jeremy Lindemann (at-large)Anne Waginger (at-large)Candidate EligibilityTo run for an at-large seat, you need only be at least 18 years of age, and either live in the neighborhood or run a business with a physical location in the neighborhood.  To run for President or Treasurer, you also need to have served at least one year, now or in the past, on the NLNA Board of Directors.Expectations for Board MembersBoard members are expected to: 

  • attend monthly meetings (generally the first Monday of the month),
  • chair or help lead at least one NLNA committee or project,
  • volunteer for NLNA fundraisers and events,
  • participate in overseeing the NLNA’s finances and internal operations,
  • be an overall “Ambassador” to the neighborhood.

The ElectionThe election will take place, thereafter, at the NLNA General Meeting on May [TBD] 2018.  In order to vote in the election, you must fulfill the age and residency requirements identified above, plus you must be registered to vote in NLNA elections.  If you have voted in the past few years, you are still registered.  If you have not voted or are new to the neighborhood, please bring an ID with your address to any NLNA meeting in order to register to vote.  You may register on election night.Thank you and good luck to all,from the members of the Election Committee!
