Update: Own a Tax-abated House? Apply for the Homestead Exemption Now

Mike O'Brien's office - 610 N. 2nd St. here in NL (215-503-3245)Many neighbors who own tax-abated houses have contacted us asking if they need to fill out the Homestead Exemption form too.On June 10th, the City of Philadelphia sent out a mass email that states:"You do not need to reapply each year unless the deed to the home changes."This confirms the advice we've been giving: fill out the form and send it in now, so you will be locked in and won't have to worry about it later. The deadline for this year is July 31.Homestead Form The latest news from City Council is that the Exemption likely will be $30,000. If pending legislation at the City and State levels passes, you will not be taxed on the first $30,000 of your home's assessed value.Click  HERE to download the form.
