Storytelling Workshops and Slam in January

A friendly crowd enjoyed our neighborhood's third story slam at the NLNA Community Center with nine storytellers.

Neighbors old and new, people of all ages and backgrounds enjoyed good things to eat, drink, and stories.

Our storytellers were similarly diverse, ranging from an English nanny to the man who dances in Spring Garden Street by Silk City.

Everyone told interesting stories; most people told them very well. The winner was the English nanny. My favorite was the story from the new resident who's finally found a home she wants to die in. It's the 26th house she's lived in during her 52 year life. ( It's a good story.)

The organizers of the event were happy with the turnout, the storytellers,  the homemade cookies, and the egg rolls from Hello Vietnam, the new Vietnamese restaurant on 2nd Street.

We are already planning the next story slam in May, outdoors in the yard.

There is a $50 prize for the best story told that night.

The theme for stories should be "Beginnings."  They should be no longer than 5 to 6 minutes. The story must be a personal story rather than that of someone else.
