NLNA Statement on Recent Events

May 31, 2020

We at the Northern Liberties Neighbors Association mourn with our community, fellow Philadelphians, and the country at the horrific death of George Floyd. We strongly condemn systemic racism and police brutality.

We stand in solidarity with all those who are angry, frightened, and sad. In particular, we acknowledge the pain felt by our Black neighbors.

We are grateful for our neighbors who have come together to support one another, throughout this pandemic, and throughout this time of unrest. We are heartened, but not surprised to see so many neighbors both protesting peacefully and cleaning up after last night’s events. Moving forward, we will continue to work consciously to build a diverse, respectful community where everyone can feel safe and thrive.
