Leaders Wanted!

Get Involved, Make a Difference, Be a Leader!Northern Liberties is your home. Whether you own a house, rent an apartment or run a business here you have a stake in the future of our community. You also have an opportunity – not just to be heard, but also to help shape decisions that will impact the quality of life for you and all your neighbors. How can you do that? Run for a seat on the Northern Liberties Neighbors Association Board of Directors! And just what does the NLNA do? Well, for starters, the NLNA built and operates the community center on 3rd and Fairmount. The center is where we hold neighborhood meetings and provide space for a variety of children’s programs and other community functions. We’ve turned a brown field into a green field, and hold several community festivals there during the course of the year. In fact, Liberty Lands is the only community owned park in Philadelphia, and is maintained by neighborhood volunteers. Our zoning and urban design committees the NLNA helps to promote responsible development and attract businesses to the neighborhood. We operate a street cleaning program and sponsor Townwatch. We also advocate for the neighborhood with the Mayor’s office and City Council. So, what’s the commitment? Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings, which are held on the first Monday of every month. Each board member is also expected to serve on or possibly chair an NLNA committee. Committee meetings are held on an as-needed basis. Finally, board members help organize and/or participate in community events held during the year.Interested? Read below:
