Holiday Alert from the 26th District Police
All
I'd like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and safe holiday weekend.
I also want to remind everyone that along with the holiday season we traditionally have a spike in both property crime and robberies.
Make sure you lock your cars and leave valuables out of sight, such as holiday gifts.
Ensure packages are picked up immediately or sent to a secure location.
Secure your home (windows & doors). Provide lighting around your property to deter break-ins and provide a safe walkway for your neighbors. Look after the elderly and report suspicious persons such as utility imposters...etc
Secure your handbags in front of you when at restaurants & bars, take only the credit cards & cash you'll need at hand when leaving your home to minimize your loss if you become a victim.
When coming home from work or leaving the bars/restaurants at night time be aware of your surroundings. Remove your ear-buds & conceal your cell phones, make yourself less of a target to criminals. Walk on well-lighted paths/streets that are highly trafficked with other pedestrians. Avoid alleyways, park paths...etc.
Also:
We have an emerging robbery pattern developing in the area of Front to Frankford and Palmer to Norris. It involves the Shissler Recreation Center pathway and Blair St. The juvenile offenders walk in groups of three to five. And have assaulted residents to obtain their cell phones & other valuables. Please avoid this path at night-time and report any suspicious persons to 911 immediately.
Thank You,
Sergeant John Massi #8571
