Help Needed to Restore the Doughboy Statue

NLNA is launching a $22,000 fundraisingcampaign to restorethe Doughboy statue and maintain itfor the future.

Transport Workers Local 234 on 2nd St. has generously committed $2,500 to the cause, but more is needed. Help out by donating to the GoFundMe campaign for this worthy cause!The Doughboy statue, locatedat Second and Spring Garden Streets,honors soldiers (known as doughboys)from the River Wards who werekilled during the First World War.xYour support will:

  • Reproduce and install one of the bronze plaques of 400 names that was stolen. The complete set of three plaques list all of soldiers from the River Wards who served.
  • Replicate and attach missing bayonet.
  • Clean and apply a protective covering to the complete sculpture.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of the statue and park.
