Thursday, July 17th at 6:30pm at the home of Lydia Hernandez Velez.
Would you like to see the Northern Liberties community become more involved with Kearny, our neighborhood elementary school? Are you interested in learning more about sending your child to Kearny? Do you believe a great neighborhood deserves a great neighborhood school?
Please join us for the next Kearny Friends meeting, Thursday, July 17th at 6:30pm at the home of Lydia Hernandez Velez. The meeting is open to everyone, whether or not you have a school-age child - all are welcome! Please email eugenia.south@gmail.com to get the street address of the Velez home, or for more information about Kearny Friends. We are a group of Northern Liberties parents who are starting a Friends of Kearny group because great neighborhoods have great schools. “Friends of” groups are popping up all over the city in response to the challenges that neighborhood public schools are facing. Similarly, there is an opportunity to support our Northern Liberties elementary school, Kearny.
The goal is to support our neighborhood school in all of it's ambitious efforts. Principal Dan Kurtz is finishing his first year and has brought new energy to the school. Kearny has many exciting projects underway, including a partnership with PLAYWORKS and the hiring of a full time art teacher. Friends of Kearny will support and complement these ongoing efforts. Please come share your ideas and meet others in our community who also care about our local public school. ALL are welcome - We need YOU to make this effort successful!
