On September 10, we’re giving South Kensington something to talk about. For the first time in the neighborhood’s history, we are hosting an Arts Carnival on North American Street!
Celebrating the creativity and new neighborly ties fostered by the Philly Block Project, the Carnival will present a day of food trucks, fun and games, rides, and art-making. rides and games
  • Rides for all ages, like The Wrecking Ball, The Wizzer, and The Mind Winder
  • A mini-golf course hosted by Keystone Minigolf and Arcade.
  • Carnival games like a Dunk Tank, Hi-Striker, Ring Toss, Break-A-Plate, and more.
  • Street games like hopscotch, deadbox, and marbles.
  • Art-Making TentExplore six ways to create individual and group projects with South Kensington artists:
  • Create an interlocking brick pattern with Jacque Liu and Sarah Kate Burgess. Brightly colored paper and decorations will be provided.
  • Paint collaboratively on a giant paper maché sculpture, led by Ana Guissel.
  • Paint a new South Kensington mural with world renowned muralist Cesar Viveros.
  • Make photograms or shadow prints with The Resource Exchange. Once transformed, the light-sensitive fabrics can be stretched onto frames, used as patches, and more.
  • Screen print and decorate pennant flags with Second State Press. Use markers, sequins, and other fun embellishments to show your South Kensington pride.
  • Silkscreen posters with Marc Blumthal and Sascha Hughes-Caley. Using transparent ink, the final work will layer multiple bodies of text from South Kensington’s shared stories.
