2023 NLNA Board Election

Springtime in Northern Liberties means it’s time for the annual NLNA Board election!!  We will be taking nominations during the General Meeting at the NLNA Community Center at 700 N 3rd Street on Thursday, April 27th, at 7:00 PM.  

We will be taking nominations for Vice-President, Secretary, and 5 at-large Board seats. Those seats are currently being held by Steve Richman, Vice-President; Secretary, currently empty; and the 5 Board seats currently held by Caitlin Antram, Don Phillips, Barbara Saverino, Kevin Wilkins, and Sana Bango.  Each term is for two years.

The meeting will be in person, but if you choose not to attend, you may make nominations on-line prior to the meeting by emailing Paula Gansky at voteNLNABoardelections@gmail.comNominations will be closed at 9:00 PM on Thursday, April 27th.  After checking eligibility, and receiving confirmation from nominees, we will post a list of candidates, along with information about the May General Meeting and Election.

Interested in running? To run for an at-large Board seat, you need to be at least 18 years of age, and must have lived in the neighborhood (this includes both owners and renters) for no less than one year; or have owned or operated a business with a physical location in the neighborhood for no less than one year. To run for Vice-President or Secretary, you also need to have been on the NLNA board for one year, now or in the past.

Board members are expected to:

  • Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings which are currently held on the second Monday of each month

  • Chair or help lead at least one NLNA committee or project/initiative

  • Volunteer for various NLNA fundraisers and events

  • Stay in active contact with other Board members via the NLNA board email list

  • Be ambassadors to the neighborhood, and generally help solve problems and promote quality of life

  • Participate in overseeing the NLNA’s finances and internal operations

If you would like to run you can ask someone to nominate you, or you can nominate yourself.

Voting:

In order to vote in NLNA elections a person must be 18-years-of age or older, show proof of residency in Northern Liberties, or show proof of business ownership or management in NL, plus must be registered to vote in NLNA elections.  If you have voted in NLNA elections after 2005, you are still registered.  If not, or if you are new to Northern Liberties you will need to register.  

First, click here to see if you are registered. If you are not registered, scan and email your current driver’s license with your Northern Liberties address to Rick Angeli at ric62@yahoo.com. If you do not have a current PA driver’s license, email a scanned picture ID, plus a current utility bill with your Northern Liberties address.
